HELLO, MY NAME IS
KYLIE WONG
(she/her)
📋 MFT 📍Chicago, IL 💬 English, Cantonese, Mandarin 🌐 Hybrid 📧 [email protected]
How are you doing, really? Have you ever found yourself feeling misunderstood, disempowered, or like an outsider? If any of these sentiments resonate with you, please know that you are not alone. Having lived in three distinct places throughout my life—Hong Kong, the United States, and England—I am intimately familiar with navigating major life transitions in various cultures and embracing the enriching aspects of each.
Beyond English, I also provide therapy in Mandarin and Cantonese if that aligns with your needs.
I identify as a queer and neurodivergent Asian woman. Although I was born in the United States, the first fourteen years of my life were spent in Hong Kong. I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, underwent clinical training, and earned my Master’s from the Northwestern University Marriage and Family Therapy program.
In our therapeutic space, I am committed to fostering an environment that is anti-racist, anti-ableist, and queer-affirming, grounded in a social justice and systemic perspective. This commitment reflects my awareness and empathy for the complexities of the challenges you may be facing, considering the interconnectedness of systemic issues.
As your therapist, my role is to meet you where you are and assist you in navigating unhelpful communication or behavioral patterns, replacing them with new and effective ones. I approach our work with an open mind, curiosity, authenticity, humanism, empathy, and directness. I firmly believe that the effectiveness of therapy hinges on the client-therapist relationship. If these qualities align with what you value in a therapist, we may be well-suited to work together.
While I have a particular affinity for working with BIPOC adults and couples, specifically within the LGBTQIA+ and Asian/Asian American populations, I am open to collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my therapist's autobiography. Reaching out for help can be challenging, so credit yourself for taking this initial step. If you haven't already, consider booking an appointment and showing up—I can offer you further guidance from there.
