HELLO, MY NAME IS
LAURA BAKER
(she/her)
π LMFT πReno, NV π¬ English π Hybrid

I specialize in working with adults and adolescents, particularly survivors of trauma and harm, individuals with Borderline Personality features, those from the LGBTQIA+ community, and clients seeking sex therapy. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, warm, and curious. I tailor sessions to each client's unique needs, integrating various techniques such as art, psychodynamic theory, and self-compassion.
My work is deeply rooted in equity and inclusion, providing a space for clients to explore their intersecting identities. I particularly enjoy working with clients who may have struggled to find the right clinician fit, high-achieving professionals feeling that something is missing, those dealing with profound grief or loneliness, and relationships with differences in orientation or identity.
I earned my Masters in Counseling with a specialization in Community Mental Health from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I have completed an AASECT-approved Sex Therapy Certificate Program and am on the path to becoming a Certified Sex Therapist. In 2022, I graduated from the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis program, emphasizing the impact of sociopolitical factors on mental health. Currently, I'm enrolled in the Equitable Care Certification program to better support clients involved in sex work.
Apart from my private practice, I've held leadership roles in various settings, including schools, day treatment programs, and psychotherapy clinics. As the co-founder and Clinical Director of Inclusive Counseling, I lead Northern Nevadaβs only mental health clinic specializing in culturally affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals and marginalized communities. I'm also a founding board member of The Nevada Gender Clinic, The Foundation for Sexual and Gender Affirmation and Research, and Crown the Foundation. Additionally, I provide case consultation and training on best practices for working with the LGBTQIA+ community to mental health professionals, clinics, organizations, and insurance companies.
