I’m committed to listening, exploring and supporting you, occasionally providing feedback and reflection when you consent to receive it. While I’m traditionally trained and I am familiar with psychological diagnoses, I’m not a “traditional” counselor. I work in a different capacity than a traditional clinical counselor which means that I don’t diagnose but prefer to view people as doing the best they can to adjust creatively to the numerous challenges that modern life presents; not as "sick" people in need of "treatment". I hold a master’s degree in clinical psychology with a specialization in health and sexuality and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with an emphasis on diversity and commercial sex. Obtaining a Ph.D. in sociology rather than psychology has helped me understand the many social, cultural, and political factors that can have an impact on mental health. My approach to mental health is holistic as I recognize the connection between mind, body, and environment. I believe in our interrelatedness to the land, nature, to all living things and to each other. I think that from honoring these relationships, a new kind of inner wellness is born. I'm licensed in the state of Nevada (USA) as a Clinical Professional Counselor, and I'm currently working as a counselor and consultant. I have been practicing for 12 years.
