The Red Light Rules: Good Luck to You, Leo Grande

"I was shocked by how well this movie presented sex work! Usually romantic, comedy, dramas like this present sex work as this morally wrong thing that the person needs to be saved from (Pretty Woman, for example); but Good Luck to you, Leo Grande was a very accurate portrayal of the work. I was really surprised (in a good way) by the dialogue between Leo & Nancy, they really got it right! They go over pretty much every single common reaction to people who are SWers: why do you do this work, what have your clients been like, what does your family think, when do you plan on leaving the work, why do you hide your real name, have you ever been harmed, are you being forced to do this, etc. And Leo's answers to all these questions are SPOT ON. I don't know which sex workers were consulted when writing for this movie but they really did a great job.
The ONLY issue I had was when they were talking about criminalization, they both agreed that legalization is the safest and best route for workers which is factually untrue. What sex workers want is full decriminalization, that will actually achieve what legalization says it wants to achieve: eradicate trafficking, exploitation, and abuse of SWers.
Though the film only scored a 3 out 4 in The Red Light Rules I believe it is really great SWer representation and worth a watch!"
